Thomson Reuters Fact or Fiction Challenge

PROVIDED BY:Thomson Reuters

Prize Amount:  Mentorship with a Reuters' Journalist

Deadline:  2020-10-09

In a world guided by information being pushed at us from every angle - whether via TV, social media or friends and family - we all struggle to identify what is fact and what is fiction. Misinformation surrounds us, on every topic from politics to the pandemic. In celebration of U.S. Media Literacy Week and Canada's Media Literacy Week, they are asking middle and high school students in the United States and Canada to use a real-life example from the news to answer the following question: "How did you decide whether a piece of information you saw or heard is trustworthy?" Students can choose to express their thoughts in front of the camera OR choose a partner and conduct a video interview. The video must not exceed 2 minutes in length.
